Hiring with Wisdom of Maslow Motivators

The Abraham Maslow hierarchy of needs transcends many aspects of life, however none more so than the business world. Employees are at such staggered phases of existence that the probability for divergence are of immense alarm in business. While a member of management may have attained the self-actualization point with a husband as well as children, an intern could barely be trying to attain their first apartment.

The immense dissimilarity between people of various stages of the needs hierarchy proposed by Abraham Maslow is most readily shown by the prior example. The tension intensity of someone who is scarcely making do, having problems with their physiological in addition to safety requirements is of significant concern. Managers under that much pressure may have their job start to worsen.

If a person has their basic needs met such as a place to live, a rewarding family experience, and financial stability, they are more likely to excel in the workplace. It is hard to focus on the job at hand, especially if you don't have the ability to focus. When you are able to focus you are more efficient and effective at work.

This is why a wise business owner puts prospective employees through a thorough interviewing process. Through interviews it's easy to identify those with stable environments. In Maslow's terms, smart supervisors want to recruit employees in the self-actualization and esteem stages. Both of these stages usually take other people into account when working.

Esteem stage employees benefit businesses because their main desire is to gain attention and respect from those around them. They gain this attention and respect by providing quality work and maintaining excellent relationships with other employees. Their competitive drive allows them to excel at their jobs and any kind of workplace competition increases quality performance and workplace cohesion.

Employees in the self-actualization stage are also useful employees. These employees are focused on the task at hand. They have a calmer demeanor, knowing their self-worth and not having the lesser of life's struggles bearing down on them. Also, since people do not stay in a single stage, and my slide back down the pyramid, it is better to have someone who is still high enough on the pyramid, even with a backslide, who will still be a confident, efficient worker motivated by internal factors, rather than external.

The Elton Mayo Motivation theory has proven useful in many facets of life, but perhaps the business world most importantly. A thorough review of business will find that the more competent, focused, efficient employees on staff, the better the ultimate success of the business. And what better way to secure this success than to hire members of the workforce who embody traits enabled by the top tier of Maslow's pyramid.

Who Must Have Project Management Abilities?

Every organization requires competent individuals who could manage projects with ease and effectiveness. Managing projects is not an industry specific, but it is part of work ethic. An efficient project manager brings all these qualities to an organization. He will have the necessary skills and training to achieve targets and deadlines. Every aspiring project manager should receive training for project management to improve his skills. Training in information technology course is preferred along with training to manage projects to improve the speed and effectiveness of an employee.

Making a project a success is all about following a set of important rules, some of which include:

1. For completion of target/work on time, everybody must be organized in their work allocation and distribution. This organization can be done mentally, but it has to reflect on the desk of worker as well as in their work. Keep paperwork in the right place as required by nature of work, timely presentation of data and paperwork are the signs of a properly organized employee.

2. One needs to group the project into easily workable parts and give proper attention to each division of work so that it is completed perfectly and deliverables maximize their benefits. This way, an entire project can be completed successfully in time to produce desired results.

3. One who is able to use computers effectively will have a large advantage in work productivity and efficiency. In this digital age, having these skills is essential.

4. Leadership skills are not something someone is born with - they have to be acquired by hard work and experience and a willingness to learn. Training to manage projects provides the required framework to gain the necessary experience for becoming a good project manager. As new developments in the rapidly changing business world result in constantly changing challenges, learning never ends. Continued training is of crucial importance to keep one's skills honed like a good blade, which is why courses should be taken in regular intervals.

5. People so often feel that asking for help from others is undesirable. There seems to be a stigma associated with relying on others instead of being strictly self-reliant. On the contrary, you are encouraged to seek assistance from others in your area as frequently as you wish and without reservations. In addition, you are welcome to seek assistance from your supervisor for things you require.

Preparedness of mind and proper planning are important factors, apart from the rules of thumb elucidated above. The final result of any project carried out by an individual is always decided by the planning that he followed - which is the most important aspect of project management. Everything will be in a confused state if planning is not done properly as there won't be a clear way to understand things.

The training in the field of project management is recommended to people of younger generation as they are inexperienced and will be in a position to grasp the contents of the training. But whereas they can be subjected to regular exposure to such management tasks that will make them well versed in the field and get themselves experienced for projects in the future. To be more effective and successful in the field of management, they can be taught about the knowledge of computers and get trained in IT management courses.
